The weather in Bangkok is dominated by a tropical monsoon climate which means there are three main seasons: hot season from March to June, rainy season from July to October and cool season between November and February. 

The two periods April to May and September to October are the steamiest, characterized by high humidity. The southwest monsoons arrive between May and October bringing unsettled, cloudy conditions.

Shop hours

Most shops open from about 10:00 until 20:00 or 22:00, some even later. Small shops, even in large shopping malls, usually close on Sundays, while large department stores are open seven days a week.

Major credit cards such as Visa, Mastercard, JCB and American Express, are readily accepted at most hotels, airlines, restaurants and upscale merchants.

To prevent your credit/debit card from being declined, it is important to advise your card issuer of your travel plans in advance.

Tips

Tipping is not customary in Thailand, there is absolutely no mandatory requirement to tip anyone, but small gratuities for great service are very much appreciated, for instance 20 - 50 baht for the porter that carried your bags up to your room or 20 baht left under your pillow for the cleaner
